Connecting Rescue of the San Borja River's Ravine
200 tonns of garbage were removed from a ravine that was turned into a community vegetable garden. The neighbourhoods sorrounding it will be connected by an aerial walk.
The Álvaro Obregón borough asked the National Autonomous University of Mexico to design a comprehensive project for the rescue of the San Borja River's ravine that could become a model to rescue the ravines of the area. It has been financed with the money obtained by the government from fines charged to construction companies of the area. The local authorities along with the university and the neighbours have already removed from the ravine 200 tons of garbage accumulated throughout 30 years. They have also cleared the pedestrian access, located a security unit and created a community vegetable garden on the bottom of the ravine that it's maintained by the neighbours. The construction of an aerial walk to connect neighbourhoods that are isolated by the ravine is still pendant.
