Urban Age Award Mexico City

Flying Circus
Located in an abandoned cinema that was renewed, this project helps youngsters to identify their skills to express themselves and get a job.

The centre is located in an old cinema that was renewed in an area that hitherto was considered very dangerous and did not have any cultural services. The Flying Circus is open to young people and groups who are socially excluded due to their economical status, gender, sexuality or any social condition. There, their needs and skills are identified in order to design a project that will allow them to express themselves, find a job and have an impact on their social environment. They do not always stay at the Flying Circus, according to their profile the people are directed to other places that suits them best: a radio program, a competition, a workshop, etc. The Institute of Social Investigations from the National University started here a research-action project that resulted in the creation of the Office for Youth Studies.
