InSight USA – A Blueprint for American Prosperity. A Window of Opportunity
Exhibition at the Aedes Architecture Forum in Berlin
On July 5, 2008, one day after America’s Independence Day and the inauguration of the new U.S. Embassy building on Pariser Platz in Berlin, the exhibition InSight USA – A Blueprint for American Prosperity. A Window of Opportunity opened its doors in Berlin’s Aedes Architecture Forum.
The exhibition presents the results of a research study by the “Metropolitan Policy Program” of the Brookings Institution in Washington, D.C. The study shows the potential of urban centers and metropolitan areas in the USA, and the opportunities they provide for growth and development. The exhibition presents this complex topic in a surprising installation that vividly illustrates how economic, social and environmental forces are changing society’s decision-making processes and is part of an overdue discussion, not only for the United States, but also for Europe and the world.
A Blueprint for American Prosperity. A Window of Opportunity is only one of the focal points of this three-part exhibition. Under the heading The New Embassy in Berlin, Aedes presents the history and planning of the new U.S. Embassy building directly adjacent to the Brandenburg Gate and makes it publicly accessible through a virtual inside view of the building. The third part of the exhibition carries the sub-heading Shaping the Future: CityScapes / LandScapes / SeaScapes. It presents projects of five young architecture offices in the U.S., highlighting current trends in the American architectural scene.
The exhibition InSight USA was made possible through the support of the Alfred Herrhausen Society, which – as part of its Urban Age project – works together closely with the Brookings Institution’s Metropolitan Policy Program. The exhibition was to be seen until September 7, 2008 at Aedes am Pfefferberg. A catalogue is available in German and English.
