WZB 2005
Conference with WZB in Berlin
The conference, which is being arranged by the Alfred Herrhausen Society and the Wissenschaftszentrum Berlin (WZB - Social Research Center Berlin), constitutes the continuation and simultaneously the conclusion of the “Global Governance” conference series.
While previous debates on the topic of governance concentrated mainly on modern nation states, this time, the focus will be on “areas of limited statehood”. This concerns what are called “failed” and “weak” states – currently two-thirds of the states in the world – where there is no monopoly over the legitimate use of physical force and political decisions are not enforced by state actors.
